TIPS AND GUIDANCE FOR VINYL RECORDS

We hope you will enjoy your new music collection. We would like to give you some information on how to handle and store your vinyl records properly. Unlike traditional CD’s vinyl is a more delicate media, which requires gentle handling and a little bit of maintenance. If properly taken care of, you will experience the full warmth, charm and joy of listening to vinyl records, which will last for decades. The following advice is suitable for all types of vinyl records.

STORAGE

Vinyl records are vulnerable to low and high temperatures. You should never expose your vinyl records to temperatures below minus 5 degrees or higher than 30 degrees Celsius. Avoid direct sunlight at all times, and keep your vinyl records stored upright, and never stacked on top of each other.

HANDLING

To avoid fingerprints and dirt, you should always handle your records in the same manner. Avoid contact with the playing / grooved surface. Instead handle the record by the edge and the labeled surface only. Remove your vinyl record from the inner dust sleeve by letting it slip gradually into an open hand so that the edge falls on the inside of the thumb knuckle. Proceed by handling the record as described above.

STATIC NOISES

A bit of static and “crackling” noises are part of the natural charm and listening experience of vinyl records. Usually this can be reduced by regularly cleaning your records with a special made carbon fiber vinyl cleaning brush. Over time a certain amount of “crackling” noises will occur caused by the regular playing of the record, this is perfectly natural.

PICKUP

In case of brand new vinyl records, a small amount of residue from the production can lead the pickup to skip sometimes. This can be avoided by cleaning the record with a special made carbon fiber vinyl cleaning brush as mentioned above. Sometimes a little dust might gather on the pickup itself, which can also cause the needle to skip. This can be solved by cleaning the needle with a special made pickup cleaner and brush.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

IF MY TURNTABLE IS NOT TURNING/ROTATING, HOW DO I GET IT TO TURN?

Make sure the power is turned on and then gently move the tone arm to the right until you hear a "click". Lift the tone arm and carry it over to the beginning of the record. Make sure that the lid on the case is tilted back to the outer position before putting on a record.

WHY WILL MY TONE ARM NOT RETURN?

The turntable is not automatic. The record will stop at the end if you select the ‘auto stop’ setting, but the tone arm will not return: it is a click-style: It is a manual turntable and will only return manually.

WHY DOES THE RECORD START IN THE WRONG SPOT?

Make sure you have the correct speed of 33rpm, 45rpm, or 72rpm selected.

THE RECORD IS PLAYING, BUT I GET NO SOUND.

Make sure to remove the white protective needle cover from the end of the tone arm. Make sure the plastic needle was not removed when the protective cover was taken off. Adjust the volume to a higher level by turning the On/Off button clockwise.

WHY DOES THE TURNTABLE TURN TOO SLOW OR TOO FAST?

Make sure you have the correct speed selected for the record you are playing. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you will need to return the unit to the retailer of purchase.

THE TONE ARM SEEMS STUCK, HOW DO I GET IT TO MOVE?

Try resetting the tone arm by spinning the platter 20-30 times clockwise.

HOW DO I INCREASE THE SOUND OUTPUT EVEN FURTHER?

The internal speakers deliver the sound level they are designed to, but with a few easy options you can take the listening experience to the next level! You can plug in your favorite headphones into the socket underneath the On/Off button and enjoy your favorite records this way. If you already own an external device or stereo system, you can purchase either RCA or auxillary cables and link them together. This is easy to do and enhances the sound output of the player. Simply plug in the Red/White RCA cable in to the back of the record player and connect to a compatible device, for example Portable Speakers, Soundbar, docking station or Stereo System.

HOW DO I CONVERT MY VINYL RECORDS INTO DIGITAL FILES ON MY COMPUTER?

Included with your purchase is a small cd which contains the Audacity software that will allow you to convert your records into either WAV or Mp3 files on your computer. You can then have easy access to your records in digital form.

Please follow the instructions in your manual for installing and using the Audacity software or alternatively visit http://www.audacityteam.org/help/ - where you will be able to download the software and also receive tips and advice.

Audacity has the following minimum system requirements:
Minimum Windows 98:
